HUNGARIAN CABBAGE & BEEF STEW

Ingredients

1 medium head of Cabbage
1 Whole Egg
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Cracked Black Pepper
1 tbsp plus 1 tsp Milk
1 cup cooked White Rice
3/4 lb. Ground Beef
3/4 lb. Ground Pork
1 small Onion, finely chopped
1 can (28 oz) Whole Tomatoes in Puree
1 can (10¾ oz) Tomato Soup
1 1/2 cup Water
1/4 tsp Sour Salt (Citric Acid)
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper

Directions

• Core and slice 1 head of Cabbage. Set aside.

• In large bowl, add Egg, Salt, Pepper and Milk. Beat well.

• Add Rice, Beef, Pork and Onion. Mix well.

• Split mixture to form 10 individuals round meatballs. Set aside.

• Meanwhile, in a large heavy bottom pot, add Whole Tomatoes. Crush them apart with a fork.

• Add Tomato Soup, Water, Sour Salt, Salt and Pepper. Stir well.

• Add sliced Cabbage and mix. Cook on medium-low heat for 10 minutes or until cabbage is cooked down.

• Reduce heat to low.

• Carefully place each Meatball over the top of the Cabbage.

• Cover and slowly simmer for 2 hours. Halfway through cooking time, gently turn meatballs over.

• Serve hot.
