Misfit Base for Facials & Scrubs

Category: Health & Beauty

Do you ever wonder how much money you spend on face lotions, creams, astringents, scrubs, regimens, or spa days each year? Betty does and she would bet her mother’s Barry Manilow and Neil Diamond music library that it is a lot!

We all have our favorite brands, Olay, L’Oreal, Nivea or if you have money to spend, Crème de la Mer at $130 per 1 oz jar, which, by the way, Betty's friends swear by and unless it had the power to make her look like Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” she's pretty sure she would never spend that kind of money on 1 oz of anything. She's too Fantastically Frugal for that!

So, to all of her Fantastically Frugal Friends, she would like to suggest experimenting with your own homemade beauty products, such as Exfoliating Scrubs, Masks and Astringents. You can make anything with items laying around your kitchen. Below is a simple Misfit Base for any type of facial mask or scrub.

¼ cup Powdered Dry Milk
1 tbsp Liquid (i.e. water, fresh milk, brewed chamomile tea, rose water, cucumber water, lemon juice, coconut milk, apple cider vinegar, etc.)

• For a Misfit Scrub: Apply to face. Massage upward in small circles. Rinse well.

• For Misfit Mask: Apply to face. Let set for 12 minutes or until hardened. With warm wet cloth, gentle remove mask using small upward circles.

You may add whatever ingredients to the Misfit Base you want: Avocado, Brown Sugar, Jojoba Oil, Rosemary, Lavender, Oatmeal, etc.

Good luck and happy experimenting!
